{6 This EP was released Christmas 1988
not long after "A Little Respect" (the
final single from "The Innocents" LP).
It features two disco stompers (Stop
and Knocking On Your Door), a ballad
(The Hardest Part) and the mid-tempo
seasonal offering (She Won't Be Home).
"Stop" and "Knocking" are high-energy
disco records of extremely high
quality and rate among Erasure's
finest work. "The Hardest Part" is an
electronic sounding ballad with lots
of organ and cascading synths. The
final track I have always had a soft
spot for. "She Won't Be Home" is an
excellent mid-tempo pop song with a
seasonal theme and is one of my all
time favourite Erasure track.
Crackers International is a must
purchase for any Erasure fan.

{6 It's a real shame that the UK No.1
chart posistion eluded Erasure for all
those years. It's an even bigger
shame and a bad reflection on the
music buying public that they achieved
it with this pile of horse shite.
"Take A Chance On Me" should get lower
than 2 (but it's not quite as bad as
"Brother And Sister" but it is pretty
damned awful, believe me. "Lay All
Your Love On Me" is pretty dire too.
The other two are tolerable. The
remixes however are a different story.
"Take A Chance On Me" (remixed by
Philip Kelsey), "Voulez Vous" and "Lay
All Your Love On Me" (remixed by
Fortran 5) chuck most of the song out
of the window and deliver some
superior trance-house music. Kelsey's
mix of "Take A Chance" is a thirteen
minute throbbing monster track which
blew my mind. "SOS" keeps its lyrics
and gets an excellent and much needed
reworking from industrial bods Chris
and Cosey. My advice : buy the
remixes!
